Aithris a’ freagairt fios-labhairt maoineachaidh Alba Chruthachail

Shoirbhich leis an iarrtas a bha aig Theatre Gu Leòr pàirt a bhith aca anns an lìonra de Bhuidhnean le Maoineachadh Cunbhalach aig Alba Chruthachail. Tha iad air maoineachadh a ghlèidheadh a bheir comas dhaibh prògram ealain innleachdach a lìbhrigeadh tron ath thrì bliadhna, a’ gabhail cuairt air feadh Alba agus air dùthchannan eile. Am measg na h-obrach aca, bidh iad a’ cruthachadh tèatar co-aimsireil, àrd-amasach ann an Gàidhlig, a bhios so-ruigsinneach an dà chuid do luchd-labhairt na Gàidhlig agus dhaibhsan aig nach eil Gàidhlig. Bidh iad a’ foillseachadh sgriobhadh ùr, a’ compàirteachadh ri luchd-amhairc eug-samhail tro phrògram Ionnsachaidh Chruthachail, agus a’  tabhann cothroman leasachaidh phroifeiseanta do luchd-ealain a bhios ag obair ann an Gàidhlig.

Thuirt Muireann Kelly, Stiùraiche Ealain Theatre Gu Leòr, “Tha an taic seo anabarrach feumail dhuinn mar eagrachadh agus bheir i cothrom dhuinn tèatar suaicheanta, ùr a dhèanamh, a thuilleadh air a bhith a’ cur ri agus a’ leasachadh nan ealain Ghàidhlig. Tha co-dhùnadh Alba Chruthachail na bhrosnachadh mòr dhuinn, agus tha e a’ cur an cèill gu soilleir na taic a tha aca ri Gàidhlig.

“Bu mhath leinn an obair chruaidh agus dealas aithneachadh a tha air a bhith ann airson Theatre Gu Leòr a thoirt chun na h-ìre seo. Agus bu mhath leinn buidheachas a thoirt do ar compàirtichean agus companaidhean tèatair eile a thug cuideachadh dhuinn.

"Tha sinn a’ dèanamh fiughair ri bhith tòiseachadh air ar prògram obrach dàna is eug-samhail.”

Statement in response to Creative Scotland regular funding announcement

Theatre Gu Leòr have been successful in their bid to be part of Creative Scotland’s network of Regularly Funded Organisations. They have secured funding that will enable them to deliver an innovative artistic programme over the next three years, touring throughout Scotland and internationally. This will include creating ambitious contemporary theatre in Gaelic, accessible to Gaelic and non-Gaelic speakers alike, publishing new writing, engaging with diverse audiences through a Creative Learning programme and offering professional development opportunities for artists working in Gaelic.

Muireann Kelly, Artistic Director of Theatre Gu Leòr, said “This support is invaluable to us as an organisation as it will allow us to make theatre that has a distinctive voice as well as to support and develop the wider Gaelic sector. We are encouraged by this decision from Creative Scotland, which clearly demonstrates their support for Gaelic.

“We would like to acknowledge all the hard work and commitment that has gone into getting Theatre Gu Leòr to this point and the support we have had from all our partners and other theatre companies.

“We are looking forward to getting started on our bold and diverse programme of work.”
